“What we need around here is a pair of hands.” Have you ever heard that casual, intellectually and emotionally detached comment to describe the need for an art director or designer (implicitly, cheap and fast)?  To the creative being — art director, designer, et al— reducing their process to just that, a pair of hands, is like thinking of the ballet dancer as a pair of legs. Or seeing a piano player from the wrists down, fingers reflected in the Steinway logo. But, the creative being knows that creativity flows from the millions of ricocheting connections that spark the big brainy, soulful framework of an Idea. Miles of synapses from the pair of hands itching to get its, ah, little hands on it.
